17 Dec Monthly Meditation for Peace

At Kinburn, we believe that group meditation can raise the global conscious vibration. We want to get as many people as possible meditating! Join us for our monthly meditations for Peace. These are open to everyone. Meditation is powerful when done in a group, and raises the collective consciousness. We will be meditating with the intention of creating peace in the world. There are no religious connotations involved.

Here are FOUR reasons why it’s amazing to meditate as a group:

1. It creates benefits that go beyond the individual – The Ripple Effect

An interesting experiment tested a theory called The Maharishi Effect in Merseyside, England. From 1988 to 1991, a number that exceeded one percent of the population meditated together every day. The crime rate dropped so much that Merseyside went from third highest to the lowest-ranked city in England during this time. Meanwhile, the control town of non-meditators held a steady crime rate. There were 255,000 less crimes in Merseyside from 1988 to 1992 than would have been expected, based on the national crime trend. Meditation was the only factor in the study that could account for the change, as the scientists calculated that police practices, local economics, and demographics remained the same throughout the study. This relates to the superstring theory of theoretical physics – every individual creates part of the common consciousness. We are all linked. This study has been replicated over 50 times worldwide with consistent results.

In part, this is what we hope to achieve. To get a number of people in St Andrews to meditate together for the goal of creating peace. It could positively impact on the community and beyond.

“Never doubt that a small group of people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead

2. Group meditation will strengthen and reaffirm your own practice

Meditating in a group can also help to strengthen your personal practice with meditation. If you’d like to come more often, we also run weekly meditation sessions at Kinburn. We know meditation has endless health and psychological benefits, but in order to get the most out of your practice it can really help to join in with a group session. When we meditate together, we create a group energy. This can really support you in terms of concentration and the depth that you are able to reach in your meditation. There is a collective effort to create an amazing atmosphere, facilitating your meditation. It can really help you to feel connected, or less alone. It may also encourage you to practice more often at home if this is something that you are struggling with.

3. The entry fee goes entirely to charity!

Our monthly peace meditation session is for charity! Entry to the meditation is a donation of £2, or more if you can manage. This will go in full to Aberlour Child Care Trust, who help local disadvantaged and traumatised youngsters. We believe the work that they do changes lives for the better, and contributes to raising the consciousness in Fife and beyond. So show your support for this great cause and come along to a meditation session!

4. Meet some like-minded people in a relaxed environment

Come along and meet others that enjoy meditation and similar activities. Make some new friends or bring some old ones! We are open to anyone and everyone that wants to come along – we just want everyone to meditate. Note also that we are a new Centre in town, and so everyone else that is coming will be coming for the first time too.

So why not join us?? Our monthly meditations will run on the first Monday of each month at 7pm – sessions will last approximately 45 minutes. If you’d like to, you can bring your own meditation cushion/bench/mats along. We have plenty of floorspace and chairs. Please note that meditation will not be taught on these evenings, and some previous experience is preferred. If you would like to learn meditation, please consider doing one of our courses.

Entry is a £2 donation, or more if you can manage.

We hope to see you soon!

Lyndsey Russell

Lyndsey realised during her degree that law just wasn't for her. It was at this time that she began meditating and received her first attunement to Reiki. Since then she has gone on to become a Reiki Master and a teacher in Zen Mindfulness Meditation. She has set up this centre alongside her mum, Elaine.
